5 Easy Access Yet So Breathtaking Waterfalls in Malang and Batu City

Waterfalls offer natural beauty that is no less beautiful than beaches, mountains, or lakes, making waterfall tourism a very interesting adventure. However, it is undeniable that getting to a waterfall is one of the most challenging ways to admire nature's magnificence.

Even though getting to the base of a waterfall can be a challenge, there are a number of stunning waterfalls that are accessible with less effort. Yup! There is such a thing as an easy waterfall, where it doesn't require difficult hiking or involve a lot of stairs. What you get is a reasonable walkway, a few relatively steep stairs, and a short distance to walk.

On this occasion, I will show you the 5 easy accessible waterfalls which you can find in Malang and Batu City, East Java, Indonesia!

Malang and Batu City are two cities located adjacent to one another.

Malang and Batu are popular places for locals to go on short or long vacations. Located in a valley between mountain ranges, Malang naturally boasts a wealth of scenic beauty, tourist destinations, and delectable cuisine. Since Malang is in a mountainous area, there are a lot of waterfall tours to choose from, each with its own beauty and level of difficulty.

One of the Coban (Waterfall) in Malang with simple access is Coban Talun/Talun Waterfall. Talun Waterfall is 50-70 metres high and is surrounded by large rocks that were formed when Mount Arjuno erupted in the past.

You will experience a calm and lovely ambience whenever you are here.

Talun Waterfall has done a good job of turning itself into a well-run tourist spot. In addition to the waterfall itself, there are beautiful flower arrangements and a few decorated areas that provided as great photo spots. There are other additional camping areas to choose from, such as Pagupan camp, Apache camp, and many more.

Note:

  • It's best to come early in the morning when it's still sunny, and you have a lot of time to look around.
  • From the parking lots, we walked downhill on a path. Some of the paths were paved with bricks, but the rest were still dirt, which gets slippery when it rains.
  • The waterfall may be reached after a 15 to 20 minutes walk if you take it slow and easy.

2. Coban Rondo/Rondo Waterfall

Rondo Waterfall is one of the waterfalls with the easiest access. Nothing stands out from the scenery at this waterfall, but this waterfall with a height of about 80 meters can still spoil your eyes with the beauty and green scenery around it.

Due to safety concerns, swimming is not permitted in Rondo Waterfall. However, the labyrinth garden, archery area, camping ground, and the other rides are all provided for your enjoyment. The surrounding greenery is also stunning which will serve as a visual treat for you.

Rondo Waterfall is the best option for those who want to enjoy a vacation in nature without exhausting themselves on challenging trails. The access is simple and vehicle-friendly. When you get to the appointed parking area, you only need to walk about 100 meters to arrive at the waterfall.

3. Coban Grojogan Sewu/Grojogan Sewu Waterfall

This one waterfall is easy to find and not hard to get to. How could it not be? If you take the Malang–Kediri highway through Pujon sub-district, you will find a small gate and a suspension bridge. This is the entrance to the Grojogan Sewu waterfall spot.

Leave your car here, then proceed on foot to the waterfall.

The trail to the waterfall could be slightly hilly. Nonetheless, passing it remains easy. On the way to the waterfall's focal point, you'll pass by verdant rice paddies, swiftly moving rivers, and picturesque rock formations. After walking for 20 minutes, you'll get to the Grojogan Sewu waterfall.

At Grojogan Sewu waterfall, you can relax in the water or simply take some pictures in this area. But here's the thing to remember when you visit Coban Grojogan Sewu; you are expected to preserve cleanliness and etiquette while in this tourist destination because of its presence in the worship area.

4. Coban Jahe/Jahe Waterfall

Jahe waterfall, which is also called Begawan waterfall (because it is located in Begawan Village) is one of the waterfalls in Malang that is easy to get to. After leaving your car, the walk to the waterfall's area is a short one kilometre only.

The water flows pretty heavily from the 45-meter-tall height. In this place, you can enjoy not only the fresh air and the sound of a waterfall, but also the facilities and the beautiful flowers that are arranged neatly around the waterfall.

Jahe Waterfall is a well-run tourist destination, where visitors may relax and make use of the various available facilities. Moreover, now that wooden benches have been installed in the shallow water next to the Jahe waterfall, you can experience the unique sensation of relaxing in the waterfall.

5. Coban Putri/Putri Waterfall

For those who seek a more peaceful vacation in nature, Putri Waterfall is the place to go. Coban Putri is still a quiet place where there are not many people come here. Yet, its facilities are well provided, it also provides you with some nice photo spots. In addition to that, for those of you who like to stay the night, Putri Waterfall also features a wide variety of interesting outbound arenas. The camping area is available as well.

The uneven rocks of Coban Putri allow the pouring water to spread out magnificently, creating a sight to behold. The water then appears as a peaceful little lake at the base of this waterfall.

To get to the waterfall area, you have to walk about 400 metres from the entrance gate. This route is accessible by car and will get you to the waterfall without tiring you out.
