Hello travellers! Have you ever heard about the beauty of Papuma Beach in Jember Regency? Yup, that's right! Adjacent to Banyuwangi Regency, Jember Regency also has a very beautiful beach view. If you are planning to explore the eastern island of Java, you can consider this attraction as one of your destinations; Papuma Beach.
This beach which is known as Tanjung Papuma has its own meaning in its name! Papuma is an abbreviation of 'Pasir Putih Malikan' which means malikan white sand. Tanjung, on the other hand, refers to a land construction that juts out into the sea like a promontory. This large beach area boasts a panoramic view of white sand, as its name suggests. There is also clear and clean turquoise water, this beach has a charm that you should not miss. Moreover, you can see towering coral islands not far from the coast. This is the coral island that became the icon of Tanjung Papuma.
Papuma beach is located in Lojejer village, Wuluhan sub-district, which is part of the Perhutani (forestry) area. Before entering the beach area, you will be greeted by the 'Papuma Beach' gate. Although the location is a bit far from the beach area, this is where you have to buy a ticket. From the gate, your next trip will be greeted by green teak trees in the Perhutani area. The road is getting uphill from here because you will enter a hilly area. You can enjoy beach views along this road, at certain points there are also photo spots that you can use to take some self portraits.
Keep enjoying your trip! If you start to meet flocks of macaques, it means the beach is nearby.
You have arrived at the Papuma beach area if you have found a parking area. However, we highly recommend you not to park your vehicle here immediately because the area is quite vast. Instead, you can continue to drive to the central seashore area to save your energy and park your vehicle in the nearest spot to your favourite area (make sure you don’t block any path for the other tourist). Along this road, there is a wide road that has been installed with paving blocks. The road is also filled with trees on the right and left, so the air feels very shady even though it is on the beach.

The colorful boats are like their own characteristics that make this beach even more beautiful. You can also enjoy circling Papuma beach with these fishing boats with prices starting from IDR 25.000/person.
Don't worry about having a hungry stomach if you are on Papuma beach, because there are lots of stalls owned by local residents that sell various kinds of food and drinks. Since Papuma is a fishing village, you can also enjoy the fish caught by these fishermen in these stalls. Along the coast, you can also find many sellers of rujak (it’s Indonesian food where you can enjoy fruits with spicy sauce made of palm sugar) and meatball carts.
Walking further, you can go to the top of the hill called 'Siti Hinggil Papuma'. Access to this spot is facilitated by stairs up to the top. There is also a gazebo where you may sit and relax while taking in the scenery. Coastal views of Papuma's coral islands are also available from this vantage point. What’s more, because of its strategic geographical location, you can enjoy sunrise and sunset on Tanjung Papuma beach.
