Apart from its worldwide popularity, Bali, which is called the land of gods, is my favourite tourist destination. Every year my family and I always schedule a vacation to Bali, except during the last pandemic where I didn't dare to travel anywhere.
I went back to Bali at the beginning of this year and was amazed by all the changes that had been made since my last visit, and did you know? There is one beach that has really changed in a good way; It’s the Melasti Beach.

Have you ever heard about Melasti Beach before?
A few years ago, Melasti Beach was a small, remote beach that not many people knew about. Melasti beach used to be behind the hill. To get to this beach, you had to go down a lot of stairs, and there weren't many facilities back then.
Now, Melasti Beach has finished the construction process. Roads for car and bus access have been made, facilities and infrastructure for visitors have also been built around the beach area. Along with the fact that Melasti Beach is now more comfortable for visitors, it also shows off its beauty more and more.
If you’re visiting Bali, Melasti Beach is one destination that you should visit! And before you go to the place, you might want to know what’s so special about Melasti Beach, as well as what kind of activities you can do there (so you can prepare everything beforehand).
So without further ado, let’s get to know Melasti Beach!

Melasti Beach is a beach located in Ungasan Village, South Kuta District. The name melasti itself is derived from the function of this beach which is often used as the location for the Melasti traditional ceremony, which is carried out by Hindus. This melasti ceremony is only carried out on certain days, one of which is during a series of ceremonies before Nyepi day.
Melasti Beach is arguably one of the best beaches in Bali. The sand is white, the sea is so beautiful with a dazzling turquoise colour.

You can see the beauty of Melasti beach itself from the moment you buy an entrance ticket at the kiosk, where you will be taken through smooth, winding roads surrounded by tall limestone cliffs. You will be greeted by rows of neatly arranged statues and a very photogenic Balinese gate at the entrance to the Melasti beach.
I believe that what makes Bali a world-class tourist destination is the island's deep and enduring cultural traditions, which are still practised till today; essentially, Hindu ornamentation can be found in every corner of this island, making Bali so unique and different.

Despite the size of the waves, swimming is permitted at Melasti Beach. You are welcome to bring snorkelling gear and explore the underwater part of Melasti Beach, here you will find equally stunning scenery. Don't be concerned; the water and beach environment are both pristine. No litter was seen on the shore when I went there.
If you'd rather not get wet, there are plenty of sun loungers available for rent so you can relax on the sand and take in the sights. Moreover, the sunsets on Melasti Beach are picture-perfect. Make sure you enjoy it at least once in a life.
Melasti Beach is so beautiful that everyone who comes here wants to take pictures. There are many photogenic spots that you can explore while visiting here. Some people also use Melasti Beach as a background for their pre-wedding photos. By paying a pre-wedding fee at Melasti Beach, you can enjoy special pre-wedding facilities and take as many photos as you like.
In addition to the Uluwatu temple, Melasti beach is where you can see the Balinese Kecak dance. At the moment, you can only see the Kecak dance in Melasti Beach on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The price of a ticket to the Kecak Melasti dance is IDR 150,000 per person if you buy it at the performance venue.
This show runs for an hour, starting at 18:00 WITA (Bali local time, GMT +8). This duration has is the same duration as the Kecak dance at the Uluwatu temple.
Enjoy the beauty of Melasti Beach while having fresh drinks and delicious snacks!
Like other day clubs, your moment here will also be accompanied by music from the DJ.
There are several beach clubs on Melasti Beach, including the Palmilla Bali Beach Club, Minoo Beach Club with a Bohemian concept, and the Tropical Temptation Beach Club which has a unique infinity pool.

If you're seeking a perfect beach to relax, then Melasti Beach is a perfect place to go. Besides being beautiful, Melasti Beach also has complete facilities to support the comfort of its visitors.
